Killteevans Holy Well

Of the eight holy wells still traceable throughout Co. Roscommon, five still retain the Gaelic title “Tobar”.

The water of Tobar na Greaghta (Well of the Injuries) located at Kilteevan, was believed to cure all wounds and sores, unfortunately, a Robert Ormsby dared wash the broken leg of his greyhound there. Because of this “abuse” the well was desecrated, and suddenly disappeared under ground during the night.
