The Hayden Monument

Erected by the people of the town in The Market Square as a tribute to Luke Hayden, MP, a Parnellite candidate of the Home Rule Party in the British House of Commons from 1885-1897.

He was proprietor of the local newspaper, The Messenger, Chairman of the Board of Town Commissioners for 17 years and one of the founding members of the Land League.
